Factsheets

As part of Phase 3 Programme, a number of outputs from Phase 2 are being summarised into factsheets. The fact sheets that will be developed in the first area of the response are:

  • Strategic policy
  • Funding models
  • Workplace policy
  • Addressing the Institutional culture
  • Best practices
  • Support for PLWHA
  • Maximising Institutional Resources and Potential
  • Monitoring and Evaluation

The fact sheets for the second area of response are:

  • Know your epidemic – Nationally, Provincially and Institutionally
  • Social drivers of the epidemic
  • Tolerance and acceptance
  • Surveillance
  • Teacher training
  • Curriculum
  • Research

The fact sheets for the third area of response will be:

  • The three levels of prevention – individual, social, structural
  • Setting up counselling and support services
  • Testing and Counselling Campaigns and Treatment
  • Student Health and Campus support
  • Stigma and Diversity
  • Curriculum interventions  - particularly in the professsional degrees
  • Volunteer and peer education programmes
  • Social movement and leadership
  • Workplace programmes and training
  • Residence cultures and residence programmes
  • Communication programmes
  • Community engagement

These fact sheets and implementation guides are tools against which an institutional response can be developed and measured and there will be a strong emphasis on the ongoing evaluation and monitoring of the programmes at the different institutions to ensure that there can be shared experiences and common ground to the response. The ways in which tertiary institutions will respond will in large measure be determined by the findings of the sero prevalence reports particular to each institution.
