Higher Education South Africa (HESA) is the voice of South Africa’s university leadership. We represent 23 Vice-Chancellors of public universities. Since 2005, we have provided strong and effective representation for our members, in South Africa. Our mandate is to facilitate the development of informed public policy on higher education and to encourage cooperation among universities and government, industry and other sectors of society in South Africa.

We provide services to member universities in five main areas:

• Strategic research;
• Policy advocacy and stakeholder engagement;
• Sector support, including providing university leaders and their institutions with a supportive network as well as opportunities for collective action;
• Special programmes to strengthen capacity of our institutions; and
• Value-adding services including scholarships and international programmes.
